Estonia has reported that a NATO fighter jet shot down a drone over its territory, believed to be a Ukrainian projectile knocked off course by Russian electronic jamming.

Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur said a Romanian F-16 fired a missile, and the drone debris fell in a marshy area in central Estonia on Tuesday. No damage or injuries were reported.

Ukraine responded by accusing Russia of deliberately redirecting its drones, which were aimed at legitimate military targets inside Russia. Kyiv apologized to Estonia and the other Baltic nations for the unintended incident.

Russia has not commented. This is the latest in a series of drone incursions over NATO members Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Last week, Latvia's Prime Minister resigned over a political crisis sparked by similar stray drones. Earlier this month, two Ukrainian drones hit an empty oil storage site in Latvia.

Pevkur stated that the drone was identified as a threat before entering Estonian airspace, after receiving early warning from Latvia. He confirmed discussing the incident with his Ukrainian counterpart, who apologized.

Moscow has accused the Baltic states of allowing Ukraine to use their air corridors for strikes, a claim denied by Tallinn, Riga, and Vilnius.
