Ángel Esteban Aguilar Morales - known as 'Lobo Menor' and alleged leader of Ecuador's Los Lobos crime group - was arrested in Mexico City and transferred to Bogotá on March 18, 2026. Colombian migration authorities intercepted him at El Dorado Airport.
Aguilar is wanted in connection with the August 9, 2023 assassination of Ecuadorian presidential candidate Fernando Villavicencio in Quito. He entered Mexico using a forged Colombian passport with the intent to expand criminal networks, according to Colombian police.
Los Lobos was designated a terrorist organization by the U.S. in September 2025 and labeled Ecuador’s largest drug trafficking organization. The gang maintains ties to Mexico’s CJNG and Sinaloa Cartels, as well as FARC dissident Néstor Gregorio Vera.
