French police detained hundreds in Paris after violent celebrations erupted late Saturday following Paris Saint-Germain's (PSG) second Champions League title win. The unrest included an attempt to storm a police station in the capital.

Fans began celebrating after PSG defeated Arsenal on penalties in Budapest, Hungary. Around 20,000 people gathered on the Champs-Elysees, with smaller groups lighting fires, vandalizing stores, and setting cars on fire. One police officer was injured.

By 10 p.m., 45 people were taken into custody. Officers also contained about 1,000 people near the PSG stadium and cleared barricades made from bicycles. A bakery and a restaurant were damaged.

Paris was on high alert with 8,000 police deployed, following last year's unrest where 201 were injured and over 500 arrested across France.
