Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem has flatly rejected a U.S.-brokered security agreement between Lebanon and Israel. In a statement, he called the pact signed Friday a surrender to Israel that crosses all red lines.

The framework calls for a phased Israeli withdrawal from parts of southern Lebanon alongside deployment of the Lebanese army. However, Israeli forces would remain in an expanded security zone. Qassem accused the Lebanese government of undermining sovereignty with unilateral concessions.

Despite the agreement, hostilities continue. An Israeli drone strike hit Nabatieh al-Fawqa on Saturday. The Israeli military said it targeted a threat to its forces. Qassem stated Hezbollah would continue armed resistance, pointing to a separate Iran-U.S. memorandum as the proper basis for ending the conflict.
