JAKARTA - Indonesia's Attorney General's Office says three former officials of the National Nutrition Agency, including its recently fired chief Dadan Hindayana, have been arrested on graft allegations linked to the country's flagship free-meal program.
Authorities raided the agency's headquarters Wednesday morning. The building remained under lockdown for hours, with employees barred from entering.
The arrests come hours after President Prabowo Subianto fired Dadan, the entomologist who led the agency since its launch in late 2024.
The free-meal program, a cornerstone of Prabowo's campaign, aims to feed 83 million children and pregnant women. The government has budgeted at least $15 billion for the initiative. But critics have raised concerns over food safety, with reports of food poisoning affecting thousands of children.
