Israeli attacks in Gaza have intensified, killing and injuring dozens in recent days, including a drone strike that killed seven people outside a grocery store and a teacher shot while working in a temporary learning space.
The UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights reports that over 1,100 Palestinians have been killed since the October 2025 ceasefire. From July 13 to 20 alone, the Israeli military killed at least 57 Palestinians, including children and women, with many killed far from the so-called "yellow line" of military control.
Palestinians remain trapped in a shrinking area as Israel moves this boundary westward. The UN warns that the entire Gaza Strip is under Israeli occupation, and third states must take urgent action to enforce the ceasefire and ensure accountability.
Humanitarian efforts continue under severe constraints. UN partners have provided structured learning for over 435,000 children and supported medical evacuations, including nine child patients transferred to Jordan.
In the West Bank, settler violence has surged, now accounting for 55 percent of all Palestinian injuries in 2026. Attacks have increased from one every three days in 2020 to over three per day this year. In one week in July, settlers injured 45 Palestinians, including farmers sprayed with pepper spray.
The UN reports one Palestinian community has been fully displaced due to recurrent settler attacks since January 2023.
