An Israeli airstrike on a tent sheltering displaced families in the Mawasi area of Khan Younis in southern Gaza on Monday killed six-year-old Mennatallah Abu Libda and 31-year-old Hanan Mahmoud. Medics say 17 others were wounded, including children.

Two helicopters carried out the attack, according to witnesses. The Israeli military said it struck militants in the area but offered no further details.

This comes as an October ceasefire brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump has failed to halt Israeli strikes in Gaza. Israel now controls more than half of the strip, while Hamas holds a coastal sliver. Nearly 900 Palestinians have been killed since the truce began, per Gaza health officials. Four Israeli soldiers have died in the same period.
