Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon on Tuesday resulted in the deaths of eight individuals, including three civil defense paramedics. The Lebanese health ministry reported the initial casualties in Majdal Zoun, with additional fatalities and injuries occurring in strikes on Jebchit and Jwaya.
The Lebanese army also reported two troops wounded by Israeli targeting of a patrol, marking the first such incident since a ceasefire began. Israel's military confirmed an employee of a defense contractor was killed in southern Lebanon.
These strikes follow a fresh Israeli evacuation order for residents in over a dozen towns to move north. Despite the orders, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar stated Israel has no territorial ambitions in Lebanon and will withdraw when Hezbollah is dismantled. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the strikes, calling them a violation of international law.
Human rights group Amnesty International urged Israel to cease destroying civilian property, citing videos of Israeli excavators destroying solar panels and a water station in Debel. The Israeli military is investigating the incident. Meanwhile, Israel announced the demolition of two Hezbollah tunnels in Qantara, described as a significant underground military installation potentially funded by Iran.
