Muslim organizations and Culture Minister Marc Miller condemned an alleged attack on Imam Ebrahim Ali in Victoria.

The incident occurred Thursday evening as the imam was seated in his vehicle near home. A suspect attempted to forcibly enter the car, resulting in a physical confrontation where both exchanged blows.

The assailant reportedly made xenophobic remarks, instructing the imam to 'go back to your home country.' Following the attack, the imam pursued the suspect while calling 911, leading to an arrest. Though he suffered minor injuries, the imam resumed prayers the next day.

This incident highlights the urgent need to combat rising Islamophobia, as stated by the National Council of Canadian Muslims. Community leaders emphasize addressing anti-Muslim hate and fostering a safe environment for all.
