Top U.S. intelligence officials will testify Wednesday before the Senate Intelligence Committee on national security threats - with intense focus on the Trump administration’s war with Iran.
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, FBI Director Kash Patel, NSA Chief Lt. Gen. William Hartman, and DIA Director Lt. Gen. James Adams will appear at 10 a.m. EDT.
The hearing follows the abrupt resignation of National Counterterrorism Center head Joe Kent, who declared in his letter: "Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation." He accused Israeli officials and U.S. media of running a "misinformation campaign" that misled President Trump into launching the war.
A March 2025 intelligence assessment - released nearly one year before hostilities - stated plainly: "Iran is not building a nuclear weapon." It added that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei sought to avoid direct conflict with the U.S. and its allies.
Since the Feb. 28 bombing campaign - which killed Khamenei - the administration has repeatedly cited an "imminent threat" to justify military action. Critics point to shifting rationales and deepening diplomatic isolation.
