Iran's state railway has suspended service between Tehran and Mashhad following US military strikes. The Islamic Republic of Iran Railways attributed the disruption to "a criminal attack" on the route.
The suspension occurred hours before the scheduled burial of late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in Mashhad. His funeral procession is concluding in his hometown after ceremonies in Tehran and Iraqi holy cities.
Khamenei was killed in US-Israeli strikes on February 28. Despite a recent ceasefire agreement, the two nations exchanged fire again overnight. US Central Command reported hitting around 90 military targets, while Iran's Revolutionary Guards claimed retaliatory strikes on US bases in Kuwait and Bahrain.
