Israel has launched its first attack on Beirut since a US-brokered truce went into effect last week, striking two apartment buildings in the southern suburb of Dahieh. Lebanese officials say two people were killed and at least 17 injured.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the strike targeted "terrorist headquarters" in response to rocket fire from Hezbollah. The group has not commented on the attack.
Sunday's strike tore through the lower floors of a residential building, scattering debris across the street. Social media video showed crowds rushing to help the wounded.
An Israeli army spokesman suggested further strikes were coming, posting on X: "To be continued."
The attack threatens to undermine US efforts to broker a wider peace deal with Iran, which is demanding a complete ceasefire in Lebanon.
