Superdry co-founder James Holder has been sentenced to eight years in prison for raping a woman in what the court described as a "despicable piece of sexual violence."

The 54-year-old, from Cheltenham, attacked the woman in her flat after a night out in May 2022.

A jury at Gloucester Crown Court found him guilty of rape. The victim told Bristol Crown Court he had taken her "choice, dignity and body."

Recorder David Chidgey said the attack was "about your sense of entitlement and your casual disregard for the victim's absolute right to say what she wanted to do with her own body."

Holder showed no emotion as the sentence was read via video link from prison.
