A Canadian man, Kenneth Law, has agreed to plead guilty to counseling or aiding suicide, his lawyer confirmed. Canadian prosecutors will withdraw the 14 murder charges previously laid against Law.

Law, from the Toronto area, allegedly used websites to market and sell sodium nitrite, a substance that can be deadly if ingested. Police suspect Law sent at least 1,200 packages to over 40 countries. Investigations into his activities have been launched in the United States, Britain, Italy, Australia, and New Zealand.
In Canada, abetting suicide carries a maximum sentence of 14 years, while a murder conviction means life in prison. Law has been in custody since his arrest in May 2023.
