Russian strikes hit Kyiv Monday, killing at least nine people and injuring 46 others. The attack targeted residential apartment blocks, causing fires and structural damage across the Ukrainian capital.

Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko confirmed ballistic missiles struck multiple buildings. Emergency crews are searching for survivors trapped in the rubble.

The strikes occurred just hours before the NATO summit in Turkey. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is attending the meeting where he plans to discuss military aid with US President Donald Trump.

Zelensky had warned that intelligence indicated Kyiv would face a second wave of attacks. The earlier assault Thursday killed 30 people and prompted widespread evacuations to metro stations.

Ukraine accuses Russia of deliberately targeting civilian areas. Moscow claims it struck military and energy targets in retaliation for Ukrainian attacks on Russian infrastructure.

Zelensky urged NATO allies to accelerate delivery of long-range missiles. He also requested US licenses for Ukraine to manufacture Patriot defense systems.
