Explosions shook Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, early Sunday following a ballistic missile attack. The strikes occurred just two days before the fourth anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion.

Officials confirmed the capital was attacked with ballistic weapons, urging citizens to seek shelter. Two people, a woman and a child, were injured and hospitalized in the Kyiv suburbs.

This latest bombardment follows intensified winter assaults by Moscow targeting Ukraine's energy and military infrastructure. Temperatures dipped to nearly -10°C during the attack, which reportedly caused a fire on a residential building's roof.

The attacks prompted heightened vigilance across Ukraine, including the deployment of Polish jets detecting Russian long-range aviation strikes. Earlier, explosions in Lviv, a western city, killed a policewoman and injured 15 others.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated Friday that Ukraine "is definitely not losing" the war, with victory remaining the objective. He cited recent counterattacks where Ukrainian forces reportedly reclaimed approximately 300 sq km of territory. Zelenskyy also indicated that sweeping outages of Starlink internet terminals, reportedly shut down by Elon Musk, have enabled these advances.
