Russia launched a massive wave of overnight strikes against Ukraine, killing at least one person and wounding dozens. The attack targeted Kyiv with missiles and drones, collapsing part of a nine-story apartment block.

Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko called it an “especially difficult night for Kyiv” as rescuers searched the rubble. Mayor Vitaliy Klychko said 18 apartments were destroyed and water supplies disrupted.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia’s assault proves Moscow doesn’t want peace. He urged allies to strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses.

Strikes also hit Kremenchuk, Bila Tserkva, Kharkiv, Sumy, and Odesa. The barrage follows a three-day US-brokered ceasefire that expired Monday. Russia quickly resumed attacks, killing nine Tuesday and six Wednesday.

In a separate development, a Kyiv court ordered 60 days’ pretrial detention for Zelensky’s chief of staff, Andriy Yermak, in a corruption probe. The court set bail at $3.2 million. Yermak denies the allegations and says he will appeal.
