Scottish authorities charged two individuals this week following an alleged attempt to infiltrate HM Naval Base Clyde, the site of the United Kingdom’s nuclear deterrent. Police Scotland announced Saturday that a 34-year-old Iranian man and a 31-year-old Romanian woman were arrested Thursday evening near the facility.

The suspects reportedly lacked valid access passes and were detained for suspicious behavior after being turned away. Both are scheduled to appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Monday.

HM Naval Base Clyde, commonly known as Faslane, hosts the entire Royal Navy submarine fleet, including the Vanguard-class vessels comprising Britain’s nuclear deterrent. Officials stated the matter remains under active investigation.
