Oil prices surged Monday in Asian trading after Iran fired missiles at Israel, breaking the fragile ceasefire in place since April.

Brent crude jumped 2.6% to $95.50 a barrel; US crude rose 2.5% to $92.75.

President Trump told Axios he will urge Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to retaliate, saying, "I don't want it to blow up because of what is happening now."

The ceasefire, repeatedly violated by both sides, remains fragile. The conflict has disrupted oil shipments from the Gulf after Iran threatened vessels crossing the Strait of Hormuz.
