Russia launched a significant aerial assault on Ukraine overnight, deploying approximately 50 missiles and nearly 300 drones across multiple regions. The strikes, occurring days before the four-year anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion, primarily targeted the nation's energy infrastructure, along with logistical and water facilities.

In the Kyiv region, including the capital, one man was killed and fifteen people, including four children, were injured. The attacks occurred as temperatures in Kyiv dropped to -10C.

Seven regions were affected, including Kyiv, Dnipro, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava, and Sumy. In Mykolaiv, 16,000 residents lost electricity due to damage to energy infrastructure. Significant fires were also reported at energy facilities in the Odesa region.

Separately, in the western city of Lviv, a police officer was killed and 25 people were injured in what Ukrainian officials described as a terror attack involving two homemade bombs. Authorities have detained several individuals in connection with the incident.

This week alone, Ukraine reports over 1,300 drone attacks by Russia. Efforts toward potential peace talks involving Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin are reportedly ongoing, with proposals put forth by US representatives.
