Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a ceasefire with Ukraine for the Orthodox Easter holidays, according to the Kremlin. The truce is set to begin at 16:00 on April 11 and last until the end of April 12, 2026.

The Kremlin stated that troops are instructed to cease combat operations and are prepared for any enemy provocations. This announcement follows a similar holiday truce proposal from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Peace talks have been significantly hampered by the ongoing Middle East conflict and fundamental disagreements over territorial and political concessions.
