Russia has provided Iran with information that could help Tehran strike American warships, aircraft, and other assets in the region, according to two officials familiar with U.S. intelligence.

These officials, speaking anonymously, cautioned that U.S. intelligence has not uncovered evidence of Russia directing Iran's actions. This development marks the first indication that Moscow may be involving itself in the conflict initiated by the U.S. and Israel in Iran.

Russia has strengthened its ties with Iran as it seeks critical missile and drone supplies for its ongoing war in Ukraine. Iran, meanwhile, has faced international isolation due to its nuclear program and its backing of regional proxy groups.
