At least 11 people were killed in Israeli airstrikes across southern Lebanon less than 24 hours after a ceasefire with Hezbollah was announced. The Lebanese state news agency reported that warplanes, drones, and artillery targeted areas near Nabatieh.
The Israeli military stated it struck Hezbollah targets in response to over 50 projectiles fired at its forces. Senior Hezbollah official Hassan Fadlallah asserted the group retains the right to respond if Israel violates the truce or occupies new positions.
Washington has criticized the ongoing operations, fearing they undermine the US-brokered peace deal with Iran which mandates an end to fighting on all fronts. US envoy Steve Witkoff is reportedly traveling to Switzerland for talks with Tehran to solidify the agreement.
Despite White House concerns, President Donald Trump praised Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a warrior while unveiling a new Air Force One jet. Netanyahu faces domestic pressure to maintain military action against the Iran-backed group.

Israel currently occupies approximately five percent of southern Lebanese territory to push Hezbollah fighters from its northern border. Roughly one million people remain displaced as dozens of communities lie destroyed.
