Iran's top military command accused the US of targeting an Iranian oil tanker and other vessels, as well as striking coastal areas. The US says it acted in self-defense after Iranian forces attacked Navy destroyers. Trump posted on Truth Social that Iran "trifled with us today."
The flare-up comes just a day after Iran signaled it was considering a US proposal to end the war. Both sides have threatened escalation if their conditions aren't met in ongoing peace talks.
