US President Donald Trump said he is considering pulling the United States out of NATO, describing the defense alliance as a 'paper tiger.'

Trump criticized NATO allies for not assembling a naval force to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran has effectively closed, disrupting global oil shipments.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio echoed the sentiment, stating the US would have to 'reexamine' its relationship with NATO. He cited recent restrictions from European nations, like Italy and Spain, denying US military use of bases.

Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer defended NATO as 'the single most effective military alliance the world has ever seen.' The UK is hosting a meeting of about 35 countries to discuss reopening the vital Strait of Hormuz.
