Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy declared that if Ukraine burns, so will Moscow, following a confirmed drone strike on a major Russian oil refinery. Zelenskyy stated the attack was a direct response to Russia’s recent bombardment of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, a historic religious site. He emphasized that Kyiv does not seek war but will respond decisively to aggression.

The targeted facility is critical to Russian infrastructure, supplying forty percent of Moscow’s fuel market and aviation gas for four major airports. With an annual processing capacity exceeding twelve million tonnes, the refinery represents a significant strategic asset. Zelenskyy noted that Ukrainian drones successfully penetrated Moscow’s three-tier air defense system, demonstrating the vulnerability of Russian capital infrastructure.

Zelenskyy urged Western partners to escalate pressure through comprehensive sanctions targeting Russia's energy sector, shadow fleet, banking system, and defense industry. He argued that economic isolation must intensify until the Russian public recognizes the personal cost of Vladimir Putin’s war. The President maintains that sustained international pressure remains essential to forcing a resolution.
