Chelsea fans FUME Jadon Sancho 'deserves' a place in England's squad

England fans reacted to Lee Carsley's second squad announcement with a mixture of reviews as Chelsea supporters fumed that Jadon Sancho wasn't selected, while others were impressed with the firm choices made by the interim head coach.

Carsley - who has been tipped to take on the Three Lions job permanently - named his second squad on Thursday for upcoming Nations League matches against Greece and Finland.

The Three Lions were much changed from their Euro 2024 failure for Carsley's first squad announcement since stepping in as Gareth Southgate's interim successor and he has made more brave calls with his second squad.

Eberechi Eze and Harry Maguire are the most high-profile drop-outs, with the Manchester United defender a national team casualty after having his playing time cut by Erik ten Hag.

Meanwhile, Eze's drop from national team selection was made given the attacking talent's early season struggles in a Crystal Palace team that sits in the Premier League's relegation zone.

There was also no place in the team for Spurs creator James Maddison or Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers despite both starting the new English top-flight season strongly.

Tottenham striker Dominic Solanke was picked for his first England squad in seven years after impressing since making a summer switch from Bournemouth, while there were also recalls for Walker, Cole Palmer, and Phil Foden who missed the last squad through injury/illness.

However, there was no place for Sancho who has starred with three assists in as many games since leaving Man United for Chelsea, with Blues fans unhappy that he has been overlooked.

There was a mix of reaction from Three Lions supporters in the aftermath of Carsley's announcement as some backed the 50-year-old's picks, while others cast doubt on his suitability for the role.

'Jadon Sancho deserves a place in the squad, after his start to the season,' said one critic on X.

Another similarly added: 'No Sancho, Maddison, but Bellingham & Walker are included. Expected better from Lee.'

Aston Villa supporters vented their annoyance online as Morgan Rogers wasn't picked for England duty

A third post fuming at Sancho's failure to be picked added: 'Jadon Sancho deserves to be in England National Team BUT I'm happy he will be fully rested for the game against Liverpool after the break.'

There was similar criticism from Aston Villa fans who were angered at seeing Rogers being missed out, with one comment on X stating: 'Morgan Rogers has been better this season than 90 percent of players on that list.'

Further sentiments followed as one post added in reaction: 'Bit unlucky for the likes of Rogers given the form Aston Villa have been in and how he’s played. Probs would’ve also gave Maddison the recall back to the squad but apart from that. I like it.'

However, some were more encouraging with their comments as one fan posting on X added: 'Lovely squad that. MGW [Morgan Gibbs-White] instead of Rogers, Eze or Maddison is interesting.'
