Neal Maupay joins Marseille from Everton on a season-long loan

The deal for the striker includes an obligation for the French club to purchase Maupay next summer for just £3m.

In the clip, the film's protagonist Andy Dufresne wildly celebrates after completing his escape from prison.

Everton responded by confirming his exit with a 70-word statement shared on their website.

Neal Maupay has completed a loan with obligation to buy move from Everton to Marseille

'Neal Maupay has left Everton to join Olympique de Marseille on loan for 2024/25, with the French club having an obligation to buy the forward at the end of the season.

'Maupay moves to the Ligue 1 side after spending the 2023/24 campaign on loan with one of his former clubs Brentford.

'The 28-year-old Frenchman joined Everton in August 2022, making 32 appearances for the Blues and scoring one goal.'

The move for the former France youth international marks just the latest arrival since Roberto De Zerbi took the reins at Marseille.

Canadian midfielder Ismael Kone has arrived from Watford, while Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg arrived on a season-long loan from Spurs last month.

Bamo Meite, Derek Cornelius, Jeffrey de Lange, Geronimo Rulli and Elye Wahi have all arrived on permanent deals this summer.

The club's marquee signing has been that of former England international Mason Greenwood after the 22-year-old completed a £27m switch from Manchester United.

Everton welcomed a signing of their own on deadline day, with Belgian midfielder Orel Mangala arriving at Goodison Park on a season-long loan from Lyon.
