Rachel Conlan, the chief marketing officer who guided Binance's brand through a period of intense regulatory pressure, is leaving the exchange on June 15. She will remain in an advisory role during the transition.
Replacing her on an interim basis is Eowyn Chen, former CEO of Trust Wallet, a self-custody wallet product. This move signals a potential strategic pivot for Binance toward decentralized finance and self-custody solutions.
During her nearly three-year tenure, Conlan oversaw high-profile celebrity partnerships with Cristiano Ronaldo and The Weeknd, and even launched a fragrance called "Crypto (Eau de Binance)." But her most significant challenge was managing the exchange's public image during its $4.3 billion settlement with U.S. authorities-one of the largest corporate penalties in financial history. That settlement led to founder Changpeng "CZ" Zhao stepping down as CEO.
Chen's appointment raises questions about the future of Binance's celebrity marketing strategy. Her background suggests a more product-focused, technically grounded approach. The "interim" label leaves room for a permanent replacement, which could bring yet another shift in direction.
