Three US senators have reportedly questioned an organizer behind a Donald Trump memecoin regarding the potential use of a planned luncheon event for "dangling access" to the former president. The senators, Elizabeth Warren, Richard Blumenthal, and Adam Schiff, sent a letter to Bill Zanker, associated with the Official Trump (TRUMP) memecoin. They are investigating whether Trump's appearance at a luncheon on April 25, advertised by the memecoin project, was intended to incentivize purchases. This event coincides with the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner, which Trump had previously stated he would attend.
Concerns stem from promotional materials suggesting potential attendees could gain access to Trump. The memecoin project's terms and conditions note that Trump "may not be able to attend" the April 25 event, which could be canceled. Meanwhile, US lawmakers and industry leaders have yet to reach a consensus on a digital asset market structure bill. While a bill passed the House in July 2025, Senate committees have delayed markups amid ongoing debates over tokenized equities, stablecoin yields, and ethical considerations.
