Canada's Conservative Party is demanding the immediate suspension of all federal taxes on gasoline and diesel fuel for the remainder of 2026.

The plan would remove the 10-cent-per-litre Fuel Excise Tax, the seven-cent Clean Fuel Standard charge, and the eight-cent Goods and Services Tax - a combined 25-cent reduction per litre.

The party cites rising oil prices linked to the Iran conflict, noting Canadians are now paying 20% more than U.S. drivers. It points to similar tax reductions in Australia, Spain, and Ireland as precedent.

After 2026, Conservatives propose making the Clean Fuel Standard tax cut permanent.

To offset the revenue loss, the party pledges to eliminate what it calls 'wasteful spending' - including gun buybacks, bureaucratic expansion, foreign aid, and consultant contracts.
