Eli Lilly has entered a $2.75 billion partnership with Insilico Medicine to harness artificial intelligence in discovering and developing novel oral therapeutics.
Under the agreement, Lilly gains exclusive worldwide rights to develop, manufacture, and commercialize preclinical candidates identified by Insilico’s Pharma.AI platform.
Insilico’s AI-driven system integrates biology, chemistry, and clinical data to identify disease targets and design new drug molecules.
The deal includes an upfront payment of $115 million, with potential milestone payments pushing total value to $2.75 billion, plus tiered royalties on future sales.
"This collaboration is a testament to the power of AI in tackling the most complex challenges in human health," said Insilico CEO Alex Zhavoronkov.
"Insilico’s AI-enabled discovery capabilities represent a powerful complement to Lilly’s clinical expertise," added Andrew Adams, Eli Lilly’s Group Vice President of Molecule Discovery.
The partnership targets multiple therapeutic areas with high unmet medical need, signaling a major shift toward AI-led drug development in biopharma.
