Spain’s Ministry of Health has confirmed a second case of hantavirus among passengers in quarantine at the Gómez Ulla Central Defence Hospital in Madrid, following an outbreak on the cruise ship MV Hondius.

The latest case involves a close contact of the original outbreak, detected through routine PCR testing. Officials stress there is no increased risk to the general public. The remaining 12 Spanish nationals remain under medical observation, with the 42-day quarantine protocol still in effect.
