New Brunswick’s Opposition leader is demanding the Liberal government delay a planned shift to a new virtual health care provider.

Glen Savoie, leader of the Progressive Conservatives, says the contract with Foundever Assistance Services Corp. should be reconsidered. This after a letter from over 70 virtual-care nurses was published in the River Valley Sun, warning the Foundever platform will prevent them from delivering the same level of care as the current eVisitNB system.

Savoie told reporters: “They’re driving at 100 miles an hour towards a wall … pump the brakes, get this thing right.”

The government has already signed a two-year, $26-million contract with Luxemburg-based Foundever to start July 1. Officials were not available for comment.
