Maya Gebala, a 12-year-old survivor of the Tumbler Ridge mass shooting, has been discharged from the intensive care unit.
Her father, David Gebala, shared updates on Facebook, noting that Maya has been out of the ICU for 26 hours following the removal of her external ventricular drain (EVD).
The EVD is used to drain cerebrospinal fluid or blood from the brain, helping reduce intracranial pressure.

Gebala said Maya is showing signs of improvement, with more energy and color returning to her complexion.
She remains in a rehabilitation-focused unit and is gradually regaining movement, including sitting up independently with therapy support.
"This was huge," Gebala wrote. "She used her own muscles to help support herself, and I was finally able to hold her tight."
Maya was hospitalized after the February 10 shooting in Tumbler Ridge, which claimed eight lives, including that of the shooter.
