Nearly one in 10 NHS staff faced discrimination from patients or the public last year-the highest level on record. Physical assaults rose to a three-year high, with almost one in seven of 800,000 respondents reporting an attack.

A record number, including nearly one in three ambulance workers, reported unwanted sexual behavior. Less than half of non-White staff and those with long-term health conditions believe their organization treats them fairly in promotions.

Danny Mortimer, Director General (People) for NHS England, called the findings deeply concerning, citing unmet basic needs like nighttime meals and urging systemic improvements. Staff who would recommend their workplace fell below 60%. Despite this, nearly 90% feel their work positively impacts patient care.
