A Quebec judge has barred two Quebec men, Philippe Normand and his son Dominik Seelos, from donating sperm while a legal case against them is underway. The men are accused of misleading potential parents about the number of children fathered through their sperm donations, exceeding the recommended limits and posing serious risks.
The injunction was sought by a mother of four children conceived using sperm from the defendants. She claims the men misled her about the number of children resulting from their donations and concealed that Normand is Seelos' biological father. An interlocutory injunction has been issued to prevent further donations in Quebec until a final judgment is rendered.
Normand, who defended himself, expressed disappointment with the ruling but did not rule out continuing donations elsewhere in Canada.
Lawyer Jessica Lelièvre stated that the ruling is a temporary relief, emphasizing the broader implications of the actions for the children involved.
With the interlocutory injunction now in place, Normand and Seelos cannot donate sperm in Quebec until a final judgment is rendered.
