Singapore health officials have confirmed that a passenger diagnosed with measles aboard a Singapore Airlines flight is not linked to any known cases within the country. The individual traveled from Cambodia, transited through Singapore for two-and-a-half hours, and then boarded flight SQ38 to Los Angeles on February 9th.
According to the Communicable Diseases Agency (CDA), the passenger remained in the airport's transit area and showed symptoms before arriving in Singapore. This means the infection was contracted prior to their transit.
While SIA stated they are cooperating with authorities, details remain confidential. Singapore has recently implemented stricter measures, including isolation and contact tracing, following a rise in measles infections domestically, with fourteen cases reported this year.
