Singapore's Ministry of Health (MOH) is set to introduce an AI-powered risk assessment tool, ACE-AI, early next year. Developed by Synapxe, the tool will identify primary care patients at high risk of developing diabetes and high cholesterol. This allows for a shift from triennial to annual subsidized heart screenings for those flagged as high-risk, indicating over a 75% chance of diagnosis within three years.
Health Minister Ong Ye Kung emphasized that AI will enhance, not decide, care, keeping clinicians in control. The focus is on practical applications that improve patient outcomes and care delivery cost-effectively, aiming to prevent severe disease and reduce long-term healthcare costs.
The MOH is also targeting areas with higher chronic disease rates. Woodlands Town will receive stepped-up support, with community health posts expanding services and operations. Woodlands Hospital will offer specialist-supported community care, including teleconsultations for conditions like diabetes and asthma. Health Promotion Board programs will also be integrated into neighborhood spaces.
