A suspected hantavirus case in the United States has been confirmed a false positive, reducing the total number of cases in the outbreak from 11 to 10. The patient, Kornfeld, said, “I physically feel great… It’s nice to be negative for hantavirus.”

The World Health Organization confirmed that the evacuation of the ship in the Canary Islands is complete. There have been 10 cases total: seven who fell ill on the ship, one who disembarked before the outbreak was identified and fell ill in Switzerland, and two identified during repatriation. The death toll remains at three: a Dutch couple and a German woman.

WHO Director-General Tedros warned that more cases may appear due to the long incubation period of up to six weeks, but stated this reflects control measures working. The US is monitoring 41 people who may have been exposed.
