Aprilia's Jorge Martin won the French Grand Prix sprint from eighth on the grid at Le Mans on Saturday, closing to within six points of championship leader and teammate Marco Bezzecchi.

Ducati's polesitter Francesco Bagnaia finished second, with Bezzecchi third. Reigning world champion Marc Marquez crashed out on the final lap.

KTM's Pedro Acosta finished fourth, while home favorite Fabio Quartararo of Yamaha rounded out the top five. Martin's 18th career sprint victory sets up a tight championship battle ahead of Sunday's full race.
