BARCELONA, March 22 - Ronald Araujo’s first-half header secured a 1-0 victory for Barcelona over Rayo Vallecano at Camp Nou.
The Uruguayan defender nodded in Joao Cancelo’s cross from the left, capitalizing on a rare opening in the 24th minute. The goal stood despite strong resistance from Rayo’s defense.
However, the match was defined by goalkeeper Joan Garcia, who made a series of vital saves, including a reflex stop from Alvaro Garcia and a final-blocked effort from Jorge de Frutos in the 89th minute.
Garcia earned man of the match honors for his commanding performance, shielding Barcelona’s lead as Rayo pushed late in the game.
Barcelona now hold a seven-point edge atop LaLiga with 73 points, setting pressure on Real Madrid ahead of their derby clash with Atletico Madrid.
