World No. 3 Alexander Zverev captured his first Grand Slam title at the 2026 French Open, overcoming Italy's Flavio Cobolli in a five-set thriller on Court Philippe Chatrier.
The 29-year-old German, a three-time Slam runner-up and reigning Olympic gold medalist, won 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-1 in 3 hours 21 minutes.
Zverev's path opened when top-ranked Jannik Sinner, two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz, and Novak Djokovic all exited early. He dominated the opening set, weathered Cobolli's fightback, and broke decisively in the fifth to seal the victory.
Cobolli, 24, was playing his first major final after a breakout run. With Zverev's win, both the men's and women's singles trophies went to first-time champions this year.
