The fiancée of late Memphis Grizzlies forward Brandon Clarke has shared a heartbreaking tribute following his sudden death at age 29.
Clarke was found dead inside his home near Los Angeles last Monday. Police reported drug paraphernalia at the scene. First responders pronounced him dead at the residence.
Amber Lorraine posted on her private Instagram account over the weekend, writing, "There are no words to describe this feeling. I never thought I’d have to live life without you."
She described Clarke as "the most special person, with the biggest heart" and revealed the two were to be married soon. She called the day he proposed the "happiest day" of her life.
The Grizzlies released a statement calling Clarke "an outstanding teammate and an even better person." NBA Commissioner Adam Silver also expressed devastation, calling Clarke "a beloved teammate and leader who played the game with enormous passion and grit."
Clarke had spent the last seven seasons with the Grizzlies. In April, he was arrested in Arkansas on charges including speeding, possession of a controlled substance, and drug trafficking. He was due in court last week.
