Novak Djokovic won the longest quarterfinal in Wimbledon history Wednesday, defeating Canada's Felix Auger-Aliassime in a match that lasted over five hours.
The victory was not without drama. Djokovic, 39, engaged in a heated argument with tournament supervisor Denise Parnell about whether to close the Centre Court roof after the second set. Parnell cited evening conditions, while Djokovic insisted the match continue outdoors, questioning the consistency of the rules.
"You're so proud of your rules, and you're not sticking to any kind of rules," Djokovic told the official. "You have no idea what the rule is."
The roof was ultimately closed. Despite the disruption, Djokovic rallied to win the match 7-6(10), 3-6, 6-3, 6-7(4), 7-6(4).
His opponent, Auger-Aliassime, appeared to side with Djokovic during the dispute, asking the official to confirm the roof would stay closed.
With the win, Djokovic becomes the oldest man to reach the Wimbledon semifinals in more than 50 years. The 24-time Grand Slam champion will next face defending champion Jannik Sinner on Friday.
