Formula One CEO Stefano Domenicali has reassured fans that the sport's upcoming engine era will deliver excitement, dismissing concerns about four-time champion Max Verstappen leaving.
Domenicali, speaking after meeting Verstappen during testing in Bahrain, stated he has a strong relationship with the driver and is confident Verstappen remains passionate about Formula One. He highlighted that Verstappen's critical feedback is aimed at improving the sport. "I guarantee you that Max wants and cares about Formula One more than anyone else," Domenicali said.
The new regulations introduce a 50-50 balance between electric and combustion power, requiring drivers to manage energy more tactically. A new overtake mode replaces the drag reduction system to facilitate passing.
Domenicali described the changes as a "new way of driving" and expressed optimism about the cars' speed and aesthetic appeal. "I am totally positive to say that there will be another incredible year," he stated.
Additionally, Istanbul Park is nearing a return to the F1 calendar, potentially in rotation with an existing race, while maintaining a cap of 24 events. Madrid is confirmed to host a race in September starting in 2026.
