LONDON - Nottingham Forest delivered a vital 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, leapfrogging their rivals in the Premier League table with goals from Igor Jesus, Morgan Gibbs-White and Taiwo Awoniyi.
Spurs controlled much of the first half but failed to capitalize, squandering key chances. Richarlison missed a clear opportunity in the 15th minute, and Jesus' defensive header struck the woodwork moments later.
The deadlock broke in first-half stoppage time when Jesus headed home from a Neco Williams corner. Forest seized momentum after halftime, with Gibbs-White slotting in a finish in the 62nd minute.
Substitute Awoniyi sealed the result with a late tap-in in the 87th minute as frustrated Spurs fans began exiting early. The final whistle was met with loud boos from those remaining.
The win marks Forest’s first league victory under coach Vitor Pereira. They now sit in 16th place with 32 points from 31 games, two points above Spurs, who remain in 17th with 30 points.
Spurs, despite a midweek Champions League win over Atletico Madrid in a losing effort, extend their league winless streak to 12 matches. Manager Igor Tudor faces mounting pressure after another failed performance.
West Ham United stay in the relegation zone with 29 points after losing to Aston Villa, leaving the battle at the bottom wide open heading into the international break.
