WWE Hall of Famer John Bradshaw Layfield is bullish on the future of Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA), which WWE acquired in 2025.
"I think it’s the hottest program in the world right now. It’s unbelievable. They got incredible characters," Layfield told Fox News Digital. He recalled the intense energy of performing in Mexico, calling the nation's wrestling scene a "sleeping giant" now awakening for a global audience.
The recent Mask vs. Mask match, which saw El Grande Americano defeat Original El Grande Americano (revealed as Chad Gable), was a watershed moment. Layfield compared its artistry to legendary bouts like Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker.

Layfield credits WWE's Jeremy Borash and The Undertaker for elevating the product. The next chapter involves the reformed villainous stable Los Perros del Mal, featuring Daga, Angel, Berto, Bronco Nima, and Karmen Petrovic.

"As soon as we got done with Mask vs. Mask, Jeremy Borash starts bringing back Los Perros del Mal... this is an incredible new journey," Layfield said.
