The Philadelphia 76ers are moving on after a 109-100 victory over the Boston Celtics in Game 7, overcoming a 3-1 series deficit. Joel Embiid led the way with 34 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists, hitting nine of 11 free throws.
But the win was not without controversy. Celtics star Jaylen Brown accused Embiid of flopping after the game, saying he was “flopping around” and getting extra calls from officials.
Tyrese Maxey added 30 points for Philadelphia; VJ Edgecombe contributed 23. The 76ers shot 39% from three-point range, while Boston hit just 27% (13-of-49). The Celtics also lost Jayson Tatum to an injury late in Game 6; he tried to play in Game 7 but exited.
Brown credited Embiid and Maxey but noted the uncertainty around Embiid’s health-he had been dealing with appendicitis. “He just was a problem for us,” Brown said. “Give credit to Nick Nurse and Philadelphia. They got better.”
Philadelphia advances to face the New York Knicks in the next round.
