Former NBA center and current ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins was involved in a heated altercation at his son's AAU basketball game in Norman, Oklahoma, after he says a player from the opposing team body-slammed one of his players. Perkins, who coaches his son's YPG Perkins team, was seen in a viral video being held back as he yelled at someone off-camera. He addressed the incident on social media, writing, 'Damn right, and it probably won’t be the last time! I’m going to protect every single kid in my organization like they’re my own.'
During an appearance on ESPN's "The Pat McAfee Show," Perkins explained the situation, saying a 7-foot, 400-pound opponent body-slammed one of his players after the game. He noted the player's parents were not present, adding, 'I gotta protect that child as if he’s mine.' The 2008 NBA champion with the Boston Celtics played 14 seasons in the league, also suiting up for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Cleveland Cavaliers, and New Orleans Pelicans before retiring.
